No Juice

Written by: Bill Fox

There’s really no juice for the squeeze in doing because doing is just a natural ripple out of a state of consciousness.
— Mara Gleason

After experiencing such a dramatic shift in my state of mind while watching Michael Neil’s TEDx talk, Why Aren’t We Awesomer, I embarked on an in-depth exploration to learn more about the 3 Principles of the mind.

I researched and read dozens of books. I watched even more YouTube videos. Several people stood out after several months of immersing myself deeply in these ideas and conversations with many experts.

One person in particular who caught my attention was Mara Gleason, Co-founder of One Solution.

Mara seemed to have an understanding of something I had been experiencing that I really didn’t fully grasp yet.

As I started to look at the world through new eyes and discover my truth, I noticed that the people and circumstances around me were changing too. What was interesting to me was that I wasn’t trying to change.

It didn’t require any effort on my part. It was just happening, which I found fascinating. So when I had an opportunity to interview Mara, I couldn’t wait to ask her this question:

“In an earlier conversation with you, I shared my experience of how I observed things starting to change around me as I started leading myself and “being the change.” Can you share your thoughts on why this happens?”

Mara replied:

“I think there’s something so profound in that. I’ll try to talk about it simply because I believe it can easily get lost and sound too abstract, but that’s the profundity of seeing humans are levels of consciousness because most people are looking for what do I do?

Tell me what to do? What’s good leadership? Give me the things that you do. The things that the great leader does.

There’s really no juice for the squeeze in doing because doing is just a natural ripple out of a state of consciousness. And to your point, anytime someone takes a leap in their understanding of their mind, or has their shift in consciousness, they just do differently without even realizing it, and then things change.”

Boom. There was a lot more here than I expected.

I’m reminded of something Edwin Miller, turnaround CEO of many successful companies once said to me: “Bill, most of us are weary of hearing yet another list of essential traits, behaviors, and tasks for effective leadership.”

Isn’t our world filled with this type of advice?
